mission, vision & values

The image depicts a foggy, blue-green metal bridge or walkway with a wooden floor. It is Chattanooga's walking bridge over the Tennessee River.

our mission

Chattanooga Classical Academy educates students for abundant, free, well-ordered lives through a classical Christian curriculum that is robust, embodied, integrated, and beautiful.

our vision

We envision a community that gratefully receives and passes on the inheritance of the Western intellectual tradition, where truth, goodness, and beauty are encountered and practiced as a way of life. We envision a community where all members study God’s Word, wonder at creation, read deeply for learning and delight, work with skill and decided joy, and mature as wise and virtuous Christian persons who love God wholly and their neighbors faithfully in every season of life.

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
– Galatians 5: 13-14

Unlike the secular vision, the biblical definition of vision is a clear picture of a desired outcome based on an accurate, true understanding about God, the world, and ourselves.

Our Values

Every pedagogy assumes an anthropology, which is informed by theology.

See what we, as teachers and leaders, believe and value:

One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple.

—Psalm 27:4

Leaders must always set the highest standard… [enduring] their [fair] share of the sun and heat … ,
the cold and the frost. In all labors, leaders must prove tireless if they want to enjoy the trust of their followers.

— Xenophon, The Education of Cyrus
