student support & placement
We want each student to be placed where he or she can be challenged fruitfully, supported honestly, and able to grow. Because classical Christian education builds carefully over time, especially in reading, writing, mathematics, Latin, discussion, and habits of attention, appropriate placement is essential.
Our primary academic accommodation is correct course placement. An academic assessment will be required for admission and/or appropriate course placement and may include reading, writing, math, Latin or language placement, review of prior coursework, student interview, classroom visit, or parent conference.
Chattanooga Classical Academy welcomes early conversations with families whose children have learning differences or unique academic needs. A medical diagnosis is not required to begin that conversation. Because Chatt Classical is not a specialized learning-differences school, we will work with families to determine whether our program, placement options, and available supports can serve the student well while maintaining the integrity of the academic program.
Our goal is wise placement, fruitful challenge, and the long-term flourishing of the student.
...but intellectual life must not be an unbroken series of acrobatic feats. It is very important to work in joy, therefore with relative ease, therefore in the direction of one’s aptitudes.
